What Is It

A craft room revolution — or an expensive armoire?

The DreamBox is a wall-sized craft storage cabinet by Create Room. Closed, it looks like a beautifully designed armoire. Open, it unfolds into a fully-stocked crafting station — hundreds of labeled totes, shelves, rods, and hooks, with everything visible and within arm's reach in seconds.

It went viral on social media a few years ago and the buzz hasn't stopped. The core idea is genuinely brilliant: instead of hunting through bins and drawers scattered across a room, your entire craft supply is on display, organized, and accessible the moment inspiration strikes.

At $2,599 for the base model, it's a significant investment. This guide gives you the unvarnished truth before you commit.

Who It's For

Be honest with yourself before you buy

The DreamBox transforms creative spaces — but it's not right for everyone. Here's the clearest breakdown we can give you.

Perfect fit
  • You have 10+ types of craft supplies
  • You spend time hunting for things
  • You sew, quilt, AND do other crafts
  • You want a dedicated creative space
  • Aesthetics matter to you
  • You have a spare room or large area
Consider alternatives
  • You sew exclusively — see cabinets below
  • You have a very small space
  • You need a sewing machine lift
  • You're on a tight budget
  • You need something on Amazon
  • You need quick delivery

Important: the DreamBox has no sewing machine lift. If sewing is your primary activity, a dedicated cabinet like the Kangaroo Wallaby or Arrow Eleanor may be a better primary piece. Many serious sewists own both.

Honest Comparison

DreamBox vs. a traditional sewing cabinet

This is the most common question we get. They solve genuinely different problems.

Bottom line: They solve different problems. Many dedicated sewists end up with both — a sewing cabinet for their machine, a DreamBox for everything else.

Add-Ons

The accessories worth buying

DreamStation
Included in Sewing Bundle
Electric machine lift with custom insert that connects directly to the DreamBox. The essential add-on for sewists — turns the DreamBox into a complete sewing studio.
Pre-Assembly
Worth every penny
Arrives in 5 pre-built pieces instead of hundreds of parts. Saves hours of assembly time. This is the one add-on we recommend without hesitation.
DreamCart
Sold separately
Mobile storage cart that connects to the DreamBox side. Adds workspace and rolls with you around the room. Great for quilters who need extra surface area.
Extra Totes
Buy upfront — cheaper bundled
Totes cost less when purchased with your initial order. Buy more than you think you need — you'll fill the box faster than expected.
Sara's Verdict

Our honest take after selling hundreds of these

The DreamBox delivers on its promise. If you have a lot of supplies and have ever said "I can never find anything" — this solves that completely. The transformation it creates in a craft room is real, and the reviews reflect it.

The things to know going in: it's large (measure your space carefully), assembly is substantial without pre-assembly, and the interior wood can chip when repositioning pegs. The return policy requires you to cover shipping — so make sure before you order.

For sewists specifically: the DreamBox alone won't hold your machine ergonomically for long sessions. Pair it with a dedicated sewing cabinet or add the DreamStation. Many of our best customers own both.

As an authorized dealer, we offer free shipping, no sales tax outside Massachusetts, and up to 30% off MSRP on select pieces — with real humans available to answer questions before you buy.
